Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 17, 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how LintMD, a Mac application by Orginite Labs LLC (“we,” “us”), handles information when you use the LintMD macOS application (“App”) and this website. We aim to collect only what we need to provide the product and operate our services.
Information the App processes on your device
LintMD is designed to open Markdown files and folders that you choose. File contents and paths are processed on your Mac to show previews and editing. In the ordinary course, we do not receive your documents: they stay on your device unless you use a feature that explicitly sends data to us (none is required for basic local use).
Information we may collect
LintMD is built to need as little of your data as possible. Depending on how you use the App and whether you contact us, the following may be processed:
- Technical data needed to serve the site and app. Like any internet service, our infrastructure providers — Cloudflare (this website and the App’s Sparkle update feed) and GitHub (download hosting) — process standard technical data such as IP address and request time in order to deliver content and protect against abuse. We do not use this to build a profile of you.
- Website analytics. To understand general traffic such as page views, referrers, and countries, we use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which is cookieless, stores no IP addresses, and does not fingerprint visitors.
- Anonymous app usage. The App sends anonymous usage signals — such as app launches, the app version, and the macOS version — to TelemetryDeck, a privacy-focused analytics service, so we can understand how many people actively use LintMD. These signals contain no personal data, store no IP address, are not tied to your identity, and are not used to track you across apps or the web.
- Support communications. If you email support, we receive the content of your message and associated metadata (such as your address and time of delivery).
Cookies
This website does not set analytics, advertising, or cross-site tracking cookies. To understand general traffic such as page views and referrers, we use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which is privacy-friendly and uses no cookies and no fingerprinting. If you embed third-party content (for example a video or payment widget) later, those providers may set their own cookies; update this section when you add such features.
Legal bases (EEA, UK, and similar regions)
Where GDPR or similar laws apply, we rely on legitimate interests to operate the website and respond to inquiries, and on performance of a contract or pre-contract steps when you request a download or purchase. You may have rights to access, rectify, erase, restrict, or object to certain processing, and to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.
Retention
We retain support emails and server logs only as long as needed to fulfill the purposes above, resolve disputes, and meet legal obligations. Exact periods depend on volume and legal requirements.
Security
We use reasonable administrative and technical measures to protect information we hold. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
Children
The App is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the new version on this page and revise the “Last updated” date. Material changes may be communicated through the App or website where appropriate.
